Custom Course Material readings

Just a few comments on the course readings. In the custom package is the Elephant Technique of Collection Development . It consists of detailed instructions on how to do a collection mapping of your resource centre from which to develop a collection development plan. I assume a lot of this can be done with the aid of a computer program. We use the Mandarin program in our district, but unless you are holding a TL position courses/training in this program are not available. I would like to know to what extent computer cataloguing programs are useful in doing collection mapping and if anyone has experience in this? Please leave any comments that you would like to share.
